Zep Manufacturing joins Product Care stewardship program

ATLANTA, GA -- Zep Manufacturing, an Acuity Brands company, has joined Product CareSM, a voluntary product stewardship program of the Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA) that establishes an industry Code of Management Practice.

According to Dr. Stan Weller, Acuity Specialty Products’ Chief Technical Officer, “the program provides guidelines for developing, manufacturing, distributing and marketing products made by CSPA member companies.”  Dr Weller is a former CSPA division chairman and has served three terms on the CSPA executive board during the last 15 years.   Zep has been a member of CSPA, formerly CSMA (Chemical Specialty Manufacturers Association), for nearly three decades. “Zep’s membership in CSPA and being a participant in Product CareSM compliments our existing stewardship programs and demonstrates the great care we take to ensure that consumers enjoy the benefits and protection of our products,” said Dr. Weller.

CSPA Guidelines focus on seven areas of operation: Product Design; Raw Material, Package and Service Supply; Manufacture and Production Site Management; Product Storage and Distribution; In-market Support, Incident Evaluation and Follow-up; Consumer Education and Outreach; and Product Disposal.

Christopher Cathcart, CSPA’s president and chief operating officer, said that Product CareSM offers a positive venue for Zep and other CSPA members to focus on seven areas of operation in their practice of product stewardship.  “Product CareSM enables CSPA to be a strong advocate for programs that participants already have in place while promoting a high level of performance throughout the industry,” he said.  “Thus, it will promote understanding and confidence with consumers, customers, legislators and regulators.”
